भारतीय चिकित्सा अनुसंधान परिषद (ICMR) के पूर्व वैज्ञानिक डॉ. रमन गंगाखेडकर (Dr. Raman Gangakhedkar) ने News18.com को बताया कि Covid-19 मामलों में ताजा उछाल इस बात का संकेत हो सकता है कि वायरस एक खास स्थिति की ओर जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा, "भारत में, Omicron सब-लाइनेज BA 2.75 ज्यादा चलन में है। हमें जीनोम सीक्वेंसिंग के जरिए पुष्टि करने की जरूरत है कि यह ओमिक्रोन वेरिएंट है, जो विकसित हो रहा है या कोई दूसरा वेरिएंट तो नहीं है।" लोक नायक जयप्रकाश अस्पताल (एलएनजेपी) के एमडी डॉ. सुरेश कुमार ने शनिवार को यही कहा, "दिल्ली में कोरोना वायरस से संक्रमित हो रहे मरीजों के लिए सबसे अधिक जिम्मेदार ओमिक्रॉन का बीए2.75 सबवेरिएंट है. यही लोगों को तेजी से अपना शिकार बना रहा है।" गंगाखेडकर ने कहा, "अगर यह ओमिक्रोन वंश है, तो यह ठीक है और यह देखते हुए चिंता की कोई बड़ी बात नहीं है कि वायरस का विकास और प्रगति इसे ज्यादा संक्रामक, कम विषाणुयुक्त बनाती है। वायरस के जीवन चक्र में, ऐसी प्रगति इंगित करती है कि यह स्थानिकता की ओर जा रही है।" Coronavirus Updates: एक दिन में 15,815 नए केस दर्ज, डेली पॉजिटिविटरी रेट 4.36% हुई हालांकि, उन्होंने कहा कि "जब मैं स्थानिकता कहता हूं, तो लोग तुरंत आत्मसंतुष्ट हो जाते हैं। लेकिन हमें ऐसा नहीं करना है। लापरवाह होने की कोई गुंजाइश नहीं है।" वहीं LNJP के MD डॉ. सुरेश कुमार ने कहा, "हमने अध्ययन किया कि वर्तमान में दिल्ली में ओमिक्रोन का कौन सा वेरिएंट एक्टिव है। विश्लेषण किए गए सैंपल में से 50% BA2.75 सबवेरिएंट से संक्रमित थे। यह अभी संक्रमण का प्रमुख कारण है। यह दूसरे वेरिएंट की तुलना में तेजी से फैल रहा है और इम्यूनिटी से बच रहा है।" राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में 1 से 10 अगस्त तक लगभग 20,000 Covid-19 मामले दर्ज किए गए हैं। इनमें से आधे से ज्यादा सैंपल का पता नए ओमिक्रोन सब-वेरिएंट BA2.75 के साथ लगाया गया है। ये वेरिएंट सबसे पहले भारत में ही मिला था। इसके बाद 20 देशों में इसके मामले सामने आए।
